Robert H. Lurie comprehensive cancer center of northwestern University

Fueled by advances in research, the Lurie Cancer Center is committed to providing patients with comprehensive, world-class care, translating scientific discoveries into innovative new treatments, and training the next generation of cancer specialists.

Our nationally recognized experts work as a team to provide a full range of personalized, state-of-the art medical, surgical, and radiation oncology treatment options. More than 300 clinical trials underway at any given time advance innovative and effective new treatments, as well as novel approaches to cancer prevention, detection, survivorship and support.

Designed to provide personalized evaluations and treatment plans, the new Lurie Cancer Center OncoSET program takes an unprecedented approach to precision medicine, using genomic sequencing and sophisticated molecular analysis to identify precisely tailored therapies and clinical trials for our patients.

Lurie Cancer Center has Chicago’s largest stem cell transplant program, the renowned Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute, and physician specialists in all types of cancer. Extensive options for minimally invasive surgery, Gamma Knife® and body radiosurgery, comprehensive head and neck cancer program, oncodermatology, fertility preservation services, and novel approaches to liver-directed therapies are among the resources that set us apart.

Our treatment centers are designed with the physical comfort and emotional support of our patients and their loved ones in mind. Dedicated to caring for the whole patient, Lurie Cancer Center’s expansive Supportive Oncology team includes psychologists, social workers, dietitians and other experts to help patients and families manage the challenges that can arise from diagnosis through treatment, and beyond.

Our dynamic survivorship initiatives include adult survivorship clinics and targeted programs for adolescents and young adults, adult survivors of pediatric cancer, and breast cancer survivors. Integrative medicine services combining traditional medicine with appropriate complementary therapies are offered to promote health and well-being.

Lurie Cancer Center is one of only 47 National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the nation, and the only member in Illinois of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, an alliance of 27 leading cancer centers developing treatment guidelines to set the standards for exceptional cancer care.

As Northwestern Medicine continues to grow, Lurie Cancer Center will continue to expand the scale and scope of our efforts to translate scientific discoveries into breakthroughs. Learn more about the Lurie Cancer Center at cancer.northwestern.edu or call 312-695-0990 to schedule an appointment.
