This Week’s Top Story

Modern home decor label Unison (1911 W. Division St., unisonhome.com) is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Husband-and-wife team Robert Segal (whose parents founded Crate & Barrel) and Alicia Rosauer launched the Chicago-based brand in 2006 following a five-year stint designing at Finnish design house Marimekko.

Of all the designs that Unison has developed over the last decade, Rosauer is especially proud of the Martin bedding. “We initially had it sold in three different bold colors,” she says of the striped style. “Everyone liked the yellow, and it was a really wonderful surprise because it was a risk.”

For its 10th year, Unison has reinterpreted the design in a neutral gray, which will carry into 2017: “We’re now interested in bringing back older patterns [in] other colors,” Rosauer notes, adding that Unison will start selling furniture. “When we sell the bedding, people want to buy the bed frame; when we sell the tabletop [items], people want to buy the chairs and the table and the lamp,” says Rosauer. Expect to see furniture pieces that, as Rosauer says, “focus on good, modern design that’s timeless.”

Interior Intel

Things are getting colorful at Interior Define (833 W. Armitage Ave., interiordefine.com). The custom sofa manufacturer has added bold hues (Slate, Lawn, and Sunset) as well as more neutral shades to its Heavy Cloth and Pebble Weave fabrics. Take a look at the expanded offering.
