Green Home Chicago has recently started carrying the work of local furniture maker Bill Mitchell of ReAdapted. Everything Mitchell makes, as his company’s name suggests, comprises parts taken from one context and re-adapted to suit another. Case in point: this rough/pretty lighting pendant, made from chicken wire, a motorcycle wheel cap found in an alley, and Eastern Red Cedar wood (the mounting plate gets its curves from the tree trunk’s natural shape). It’s priced at $895. Green Home also carries a standing lamp and a table by Mitchell, and, if you check his website, you’ll see he works magic with willow branches, particularly with his outdoor/indoor decorative screens and panels.
