The only thing LuxeHome in the Merchandise Mart was missing, until now, was a place to buy appliances. Thanks to three savvy local businessmen who decided to fill this void, The Appliance Experience has landed in Suite 150, the former space of Birger Juell (which moved to Suite 131). Look for Wolf, Sub-Zero, and other familiar names, but also find lesser-known European brands such as Electrolux (the Sub-Zero of Europe) and Foster, a high-end Italian manufacturer of sinks, faucets, stainless steel countertops, and cooking equipment. Foster products are mainstays at Snaidero, Valcucine, Poliform, and other up-there showrooms; a signature piece is the Quadra four-burner stovetop, with burners lined up in a row rather than two in front and two in back. Also for sale, Rick Bayless’s grill of choice, the Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet, which provides the option of cooking with gas, charcoal, or wood. (312-494-9021; taehq.com)
