Openings

O’Brien Harris
Kitchen designers Laura O’Brien and Peter Harris will stake their claim on a piece of River North turf this month when they open O’Brien Harris Luxury Kitchens and Baths in the showroom-saturated neighborhood. Both spent more than ten years as senior designers at Christopher Peacock Cabinetry; they’ve joined forces to create sophisticated spaces infused with a modern English aesthetic (Harris hails from London). The duo’s debut cabinet line, the New Metropolitan Collection, was inspired by a recent renovation of the Savoy hotel in London. Options include doors inlaid with black agate and mother-of-pearl.

Joining the ranks of the Mart’s LuxeHome boutiques in mid-November is this Texas-based purveyor of kitchens that cover all the stylistic bases: traditional, transitional, and contemporary. With two decades of experience and a nationwide network of showrooms and dealers already on its resumé, the company will occupy a 1,500-square-foot space with vignettes showcasing both Old World craftsmanship and up-to-the-minute technol- ogy—things like hidden hinges and super-resilient finishes.
