Big sale at Circa, and Japanese calligraphy at Primitive

Circa Lighting (444 N. Wells St., circalighting.com) is having its blue tag sale at its Chicago showroom. Get 75 percent off select fixtures while supplies lasts. Brighten up your space with a simple floor lamp retailing at $1,155, now on sale for $289, or a George II Large Chandelier retailing at $1,890, now on sale for $473. From flush mounts, sconces, lanterns, table lamps, and pendants to hanging fixtures—they’ll have something to fit everyone’s style and budget.

Stop by Primitive (130 N. Jefferson St., beprimitive.com) tomorrow from 5 to 8 p.m. for a live performance by Japanese master calligrapher Seiran Chiba. Calligraphy and traditional Japanese art will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefitting ongoing recovery efforts of the Fukushima Disaster. Chiba will also be at Primitive on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 4 to 6 p.m. Personalized calligraphy will be available for purchase on both days. Retro-themed market Vintage Garage (5051 N. Broadway, vintagegaragechicago.com) is back with two more shows. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday there will be vintage furniture, clothing, and jewelry from more than 75 vendors. Have some vintage wares you think might be worth something? Stop by from noon to 4 p.m. for free appraisals—one item smaller than a breadbox per entry ($5 for any extra items).

Make your way to the ’burbs tonight for Downtown Wilmette’s Sip and Shop event (1148 Wilmette Ave., Wilmette, shopexhibit.com/events) from 6 to 9 p.m. Participating Wilmette shops will stay open late, offer complimentary food and beverages, have special promotions, sales, and a chance to win a shopping spree in downtown Wilmette. For every purchase, you will receive an entry into the raffle. The more you buy, the better chance of winning. Pavilion 20th C (2055 N. Damen Ave., pavilionantiques.com) is having its opening reception for Chicago’s Art Week tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. They will be showcasing six artists: Eric Gushee, Elliot Bergman, Hannah Vaughan, Lukas Machnik, Cleveland Dean, and Laura Prieto Velasco. Check out sculptures, paintings, drawings, and furniture shown in Pavilion’s curated collection of French and Italian 20th-century designs. All work is for sale.
