Chicago theatre lovers saw some familiar names among the Tony Award nominations that came out this morning.

Kinky Boots, the flashy new musical from Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein, bagged a total of 13 nominations. Chicago talked to Lauper about her show, which follows a shoemaker and his drag queen business partner, when it opened for previews in Chicago last October.

Also nominated were Tracy Letts and Amy Morton for their revival of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? The production, which originated at Steppenwolf, moved to Broadway last October. Letts opened up about his playwrighting history when the play first opened at Steppenwolf.
