BRAIDING RIVERS FESTIVAL
6/2 at 7 This program features performances by Danceworks Milwaukee, Ananya Dance Theatre, and Krithika Rajagopalan, each providing an interpretation of contemporary life and culture in India, especially as it flowers beneath oppressive conditions. $10–$15. DANCEWORKS CHICAGO
6/3 at 6 The monthly one-hour show Dance Chance, named for the randomized method used to select its three performers, gives audiences a chance to see choreographers in action. $3. Ruth Page Theater, 1016 N Dearborn. danceworkschicago.org.

ENSEMBLE ESPAÑOL
6/12 at 8:30 During a big week for the company that also includes a film screening and a gala, the Spanish ensemble presents the stomping, handclapping, and free-spirited gallivanting of the flamenco genre called duende, meaning “soulful.” $10 suggested donation. HYDE PARK SCHOOL OF DANCE
6/14 at 7, 6/15 at 2 This South Side dance school’s diverse program ranges from Lyric Opera singers and dancers to ballet and African American dance. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the school will stage En Avant, which includes several premieres by well-known choreographers as well as student work. $35–$100.
