Mini-Review: T-Bones in St. Charles

Beware: Portion sizes never let up

Courtesy of Scott Harris (Mia Francesca group) and Jimmy Bannos (Heaven on Seven), St. Charles has scored a relaxed modern steak house. A dandy romaine salad or a choice of soup comes with entrées, but the starter of tender, chewy Korean short ribs is too good to pass up—and too much to finish. The enjoyable medium-rare skirt steak comes dolled up with caramelized onions and skinny fries, while fresh salmon stays juicy under a horseradish crust. Beware: Portion sizes never let up; we barely managed more than one spoonful of warm crème brûlée. 1890 W. Main St., St. Charles; 630-762-0200.
