New: Ceres’ Table in Uptown

Giuseppe Scurato's promising contemporary American restaurant plans to reinterpret classics

By Angela Shukert

“I don’t care about expensive china or silverware; it’s more about what’s on the plate,” says Giuseppe Scurato (Boka, Landmark, Topaz), the chef/owner of Ceres’ Table. Following a quick redo, Scurato’s promising 70-seat contemporary American restaurant is slated to open in Monticchio’s old space in mid-November. Scurato plans to reinterpret classics using seasonal local ingredients, which seems utterly predictable, yet dishes such as mackerel over cauliflower purée with a Sicilian-style onion marmalade sound far from typical. Best of all, the desserts—think warm bread pudding of house-made brioche and banana-and-chocolate ganache—are $5. 4882 N. Clark St.; 773-878-4882.

CORRECTION: This post originally stated that Ceres' Table was located in Edgewater. The restaurant is located in Uptown.

4882 N. Clark St. sounds rather Uptown-ish rather than Edgewater.
