Chairs for Charity 2011

November 2, 2011–Chicago Home + Garden’s second annual Chairs for Charity event was a hit, as more than 250 of Chicagoland’s design lovers came out in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Hosted at Chicago Art Source in Lincoln Park, Chairs for Charity featured re-imagined vintage chairs from 15 of Chicago’s top designers, architects, and artists. Guests enjoyed delicious bites from chef Jared Van Camp’s highly anticipated restaurant, Nellcôte, while bidding on chairs throughout the evening. The event raised more than $7,000 to support research to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications. Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams was the sponsor of the auction program book.

PAWS Fur Ball

November 11, 2011–A record 650 guests, escorted by 200 pet companions, gathered at The Drake Hotel on Friday, November 11 for a special evening of elegance and compassion at PAWS Chicago’s tenth annual Fur Ball. As Chicago’s premier pet-friendly black tie gala, the event raised more than $750,000 which will go directly to saving the lives of Chicago’s homeless animals, making it the most successful Fur Ball to date.

An Amazing Day at The Designs 4 Dignity Kitchen Walk

October 15, 2011–Designs for Dignity hosted its 8th Annual Kitchen Walk on October 15th in Harbor Country, Michigan. More than 325 guests enjoyed touring amazing homes on the lake and charming cottages while noshing on delectable bites from talented chefs and demonstrators. Crowd favorites along the tour were the grass fed meatballs via Luisa’s Cafe and the chile verde via The Kielbasa Brothers! Chicago’s Table

October 21, 2011–Chicago magazine, in partnership with The Auxiliary Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, celebrated Chicago magazine’s editorial dining coverage with the first annual Chicago’s Table event held at River East Art Center. Attendees enjoyed dishes from 14 of the city’s best restaurants and chefs—picked from the pages of Chicago magazine—with perfectly paired cocktails and beer. A special thanks to spirit sponsors Bulleit Bourbon, Crown Royal Black, Don Julio Tequila, and Moon Mountain Vodka; featured breweries Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Half Acre Beer Company, and Three Floyds Brewing Co.; wine sponsors Jim Ball Vineyards and Gallo Family Vineyards; and Counter Culture Coffee. The evening’s valet was provided by BMW. All proceeds from the event supported research and therapies for stroke patients at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Subzero-Wolf Showroom Event

October 20, 2011–Chicago Home+Garden partnered with Subzero-Wolf showroom to discuss what to do, and what not to do, in kitchen redesign. Guests enjoyed a presentation by Jan Par, editor of Chicago Home+Garden as well as an exquisite food demonstration from the Subzero chefs. Guests were able to explore the showroom while the enjoyed great food, conversation, and company.

October 11, 2011–Chicago Home + Garden readers received free, in-person advice from interior design professionals when Chicago Home + Garden and the American Society of Interior Designers presented Picture This! Attendees brought pictures of their latest design dilemmas and received complimentary consultations from ASID designers while enjoying cocktails and great food at The Chopping Block.
