Brendan Sodikoff’s touch is visible everywhere: the alluring bi-level setting, the polished service, the top-notch cocktails, the rousing food. Beyond the fine steaks and seafood towers lie unexpected treasures, beginning with excellent housemade sourdough bread, tender beef tongue with salsa verde, and terrific smoked trout Caesar salad. Crunchy, spicy fried chicken with mashed potatoes and cipollini gravy and the meatloaf in mushroom jus raise the bar on down-home dinners. Treat the chocolate cream pie as obligatory.
