Chatham-born trumpeter Marquis Hill is seasoned well beyond his 26 years. The brass-blowing wunderkind received early support from local heavyweights Ernest Dawkins, Von Freeman, and Fred Anderson. Hill already has three albums under his belt. His latest, The Poet, an accessible postbop feat, showcases the jazzman’s muscular solos and original compositions.

This month, Hill maintains his feverish pace with no fewer than four appearances across the city, including a set at the Green Mill on February 15. $12. Green Mill, 4802 N. Broadway. greenmilljazz.com
