Urban Belly
Bill Kim (Le Lan) is on a mission to modernize noodles and dumplings. In early July, he and his wife, Yvonne Cadiz-Kim (Takashi, Daniel), plan to open Urban Belly, a BYO with communal tables, an open kitchen, WiFi, and a jazzed-up menu. "At other places, it's the old way of eating," says Kim. "We're going to change with the times and try to make it hipper." That means creations such as Asian squash dumplings with orange and passion fruit vinaigrette—but he's quick to remind us that it's still a neighborhood restaurant. "That's what we want," he says.
