One in 107 housing units faced foreclosure in early 2012

That’s how many housing units faced foreclosure in the Chicago area during the first quarter of 2012, according to RealtyTrac. Among the 212 U.S. metro areas evaluated by the company, Chicago had the 17th-highest foreclosure rate. Foreclosure activity here increased by 16.5 percent compared with the last quarter of 2011 and by 17.5 percent since the first quarter of 2011.
