The crack-of-dawn closing time (4 a.m. Tuesday through Friday, 5 a.m. Saturday) was the first number to catch our eye at Late Bar, a new mini dance club on the border of Avondale and Logan Square. Kristine Hengl, a co-owner, describes the music-driven spot as “not a boom-boom warehouse, just a place for artists to be freaky and goth guys to do that weird dance they do.” Sounds intriguing, but check your wallet before you head out: Late Bar is cash only. A tip sheet for planning your visit:

$0
no cover (except for the rare special event; call ahead)

$2
for a can of Old Milwaukee

$10
to treat your vegan friend to a soy white Russian

$5
in case you lose a wager over the title of the vintage sci-fi flick playing on the video screens (good bets: Logan’s Run or The Man Who Fell to Earth)

$3
in fees if you blow your cocktail budget and need to hit up the in-house ATM
