The Arlington Park Fall Antique Show (Arlington Park Racetrack, 2200 W. Euclid Ave.,Arlington Heights; 708-366-2710) runs October 20th to 22nd and features 150 dealers exhibiting antiques, collectibles, jewelry, and vintage clothing. Admission is $8.
Building Blocks Toy Store (3306 N. Lincoln Ave.; 773-525-6200) holds an anniversary sale from October 1st to 31st, with 15 percent off storewide.
The Chicago Botanic Garden (1000 Lake Cook Rd., Glencoe; 847-835-5440, www.chicagobotanic.org) will have more than 200 varieties of bulbs for fall planting at its Bulb Bazaar from September 29th to October 1st. Bulbs will be delivered from the Netherlands just days before the sale at the new Flower Show Hall in the Regenstein Center. Free admission.
Gem (1710 N. Damen Ave.; 773-384-7700, www.gemchicago.com), a jewelry boutique, will celebrate its one-year anniversary from October 12th to the 22nd with a 10-percent-off sale on fall pieces.
Jayson Home & Garden (1885 N. Clybourn Ave.; 773-248-8180, www.jaysonhomeandgarden.com) holds a fall upholstery sale during October, with 20 percent off all upholstered furniture.
Paper Source(328 S. Jefferson St.; 312-906-9678, www.paper-source.com) holds a warehouse sale on October 21st, with up to 70 percent off stationery, journals, and invitations.
Nice Tie Guy
This fall, former Lee Allison tie designer Steve Mayer sets off on his own with a neckwear line called Bird Dog Bay. “I named my business after my dog,” says the Humboldt Park designer, whose whimsical silk creations ($75) retail at www.birddogbay.com.
