Four new condos now occupy meatpacker’s grand mansion

Overlooking a tranquil patch of Lincoln Park (at Barry Avenue and Lake Shore Drive) and designed by the architect Charles Platt for an executive at the Armour meatpacking company, the 96-year-old Meeker Mansion now houses four luxury condos.

That transformation took some doing. Home to a Roman Catholic religious order from 1943 to 2005, the mansion endured a succession of developers before CMK Development acquired the place. Working with Ranquist Development, CMK fully restored the home’s brick and limestone exterior—but it was able to salvage only a few interior details, including a majestic wooden staircase.

Three condos remain for sale. Spread across the fourth and fifth floors and priced at $2.65 million, the 4,265-square-foot penthouse has four bedrooms and five-plus baths. A big outdoor terrace adjoins the family room. The smaller condo, a 2,964-square-foot four-bedroom unit priced at $1.85 million, also has a large outdoor terrace. All condos come with parking (in a new garage attached to the mansion) and should be ready for occupancy in November.
