Essential Information

239 W. Harrison St.
Oak Park
708-524-1004

Founded in 1972 by gravel-voiced earth mother Val Camilletti, this independent, anti-big box store moved from South Boulevard in summer 2006. She still stocks some 15,000 45s and 5,000 classical LPs, as well as thousands of new and used CDs and DVDs. Self-produced and hard-to-find titles sit next to popular new releases. Shoppers like the distinctive selection of everything from opera to rock to rap--and the yellow Labrador mix named Loki.
