Divvy Dates: A Great Way To Meet Straight Single Women

Nearly 75 percent of the early adopters for the biking/dating service are single ladies out looking for a guy.

This could be you!

Move over, Grouper and Tinder—the newest way to meet eligible Chicagoans is Divvy Dates. Project Fixup, a Chicago-based dating service, has partnered with the city’s new bike-sharing program to match up interested singles for bike ride dates around the city. You have three more days to register for Divvy Dates, which will be taking place from September 2 to September 15. Find out more info here

So who is signing up so far? Project Fixup sent the numbers over to Chicago. Here are the stats from the first 24 hours:

  • 25 straight women have signed up.
  • 8 straight men are in.
  • A lone gay man has registered.
  • Zero gay women are on board.

As for the dates themselves, you pay $15 to register for the service, which includes the $7 Divvy bike rental. Standard Divvy overage charges still apply (here’s a rundown of the fees).

Those fees, in fact, could be the one thing standing in the way of the perfect Divvy romance. Let’s say, for example, that the evening is going so wonderfully that you and your new friend stay out all night. A Before Sunrise style mega date on the streets of Chicago. You start at 8pm and just ride around pedaling and laughing until 6 the next morning—but you never check in the bikes. Oh no, the bikes!

By our calculations, that’s going to cost you $157 per person.

Sure, it’s steep. But love at first ride? That’s priceless.
