Christmas Infographics, Circa 1908

Giant teddy bears, giant dolls, and other ways of expressing seventeen million dollars worth of Christmas goodies in terrifyingly nightmarish fashion.

One of the wonders of doing infographics is the joy of taking numbers and turning them into things of wonderment, like GIANT TEDDY BEARS AND TURKEYS. Turn of the century Chicago Christmas economics, expressed in monstrous renderings of what you could do with the $17 million spent on Christmas in Chicago circa 1908 (about $420 million today). I think with a decent Kickstarter campaign you could get the children of Chicago to direct their Christmas present wishes into the construction of a giant collective teddy bear for the whole city:
