Julia Huff

Up next in our series of weekend plans from notable, in-the-know locals—a.k.a. people we like: Julia Huff, of Julia Huff & the Company Band. She performs at the MCA’s Tuesdays on the Terrace on Tuesday, August 13 at 5:30 p.m.

“On Thursday nights, I try to catch Alan Gresik Swing Shift Orchestra at the Green Mill. They play big band music every Thursday and people dance.

“Friday, I like to go biking on the lake and then I usually stop at ZBerry. I’m pretty faithful to the original tart flavor. Friday night, I usually perform at Katerina’s. There’s a dinner set and a late night set. The earlier stuff is jazz. I like to catch the late night—there’s more dancing.

“Saturday, I’ll probably go and have lunch at El Barco Mariscos. I love Mexican food and they usually have a Latin band playing. They also have the hottest salsa in the city. I’ll be performing at City Winery on Saturday for a private event. I’m excited to perform in that space.

“On Sunday nights, there’s a soul jam session at City Life Cocktail Lounge that I like to go to. Anderson “Sonny” Edwards runs it.” —As told to Tomi Obaro
