Guest Blog: Oprah Planning Inauguration Ball
Oprah Winfrey is said to be planning a Candlelight Ball for 1,000 glamorous guests as her inauguration-night fete in Washington, D.C., Chicago magazine’s Marcia Froelke Coburn reports. The talk-show host and Obama supporter has been entertaining bids from Washington-based caterers for the January 20th party at a venue yet to be determined. A spokeswoman for Winfrey said, “We have nothing to confirm at this point.”
Read more about Oprah and her political connections to the incoming Obama presidency in Coburn’s story, Oprah Unbound, in the December issue of Chicago magazine, currently on newsstands.

Please not another Oprah story!! I dont know what is worse all these Oprah stories or Obama stories!!
I am so sick of Oprah, she is a PHONY!!!!!!
please wake up people!!!!
To celebrate our 50th years of marriage, I would like tickets to attend Oprah's party. IS IT POSSIBLE?
The Oprah Unbound story in Chicago mag this month is the worst piece of fluff I've ever read in the magazine. Did the reporter even TALK to OW? You dedicated 12 or so pages to Oprah, and what did we learn that we didn't already know about her by reading O Magazine and watching her show!?? You need to re-fact check the story too. You can't honestly think that Oprah ever rode the bus to work. Surely you could've found a source for that!
It's the type of piece I'd expect to see in Michigan Avenue magazine, maybe even CS. But what a waste of ink for Chicago magazine. Oh my god, people wait in line in the rain for the Oprah Show because they love it and think she's fabulous?! What a newsflash. Thanks for breaking that story for us.
Is Chicago that boring that even its namesake magazine can't dig up a better story as the main feature? Next time try actually interviewing the person you put on your cover. Like those other magazines...
Her party is on top of the roof of the Marriott next to the National Theatre. Cool looking tents, sliding glass doors and chandeliers hanging inside. Should be nice with on amazing view of Penn Ave across from city hall.
I've been reading some of the e-mail regarding Oprah. I don't understand why so many people dis-like Oprah. All I can say is I now understand what the term "green eye monster" means. (Hate Envy Jealous.) I think in fact I know that success is available for all. Maybe we should spend time with who and what we want to be in life, instead hating Oprah because of her success. Just like Oprah, we also put one foot in front of the other and walk forward. If we find our-selves walking the wrong way which is(backwards) then we should just turn it around. Spend more positive time with ourselves, have different conversations with ourselves, spend time loving ourselves, instead of giving our-selves excuses for own failures in life. Don't waste good energy on hate, love life.
I must agree with one of the previous witer, it's all about the green eyed monster. She did not print the wealth she has,she was divinely appointed. My only concern with her is that she should go back to her roots where religion is concern and don't get caught up with this new age movement nonsense
did oparh have the ball and did obama's attend
