The Big News in Chicago Dining This Week

There are parties, paella, a luau, a pig roast, and a Korean street fair.

Tuesday, 8/6: M Vie (1372 W. Grand Ave., 312-265-0159) now has nighttime entertainment for jazz enthusiasts. The Maurice Fitzgerald Experience will perform for diners at the restaurant every Tuesday in August starting at 6 p.m. No cover, full dinner menu available.

Thursday, 8/8: Happy Shark Week everyone! For one night only, Riverview Tavern (1958 W. Roscoe St., 773-248-9523) will screen the Discovery Channel marathon along with the movie Jaws. Blogger Kim Leshinzki (Hail 2 The Ale) will tap a keg of Lake Effect Brewing Company’s Blood in the Water brew. Festivities kick off at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, 8/10: Café Ba-Ba-Reeba! (2024 N. Halsted St., 773-935-5000) will share recipes at a morning cooking demo from 10 a.m. to noon. For $35, guests can learn to make gazpacho, tapas, and a main course of paella, all the while sampling their creations and sipping on wine pairings.

Saturday, 8/10: $25 will get you into Division Ale House’s (1942 W. Division St., 773-384-6886) four-year anniversary party. The ticket includes complimentary cocktails and beer, all-you-can-eat fixings from a pig roast, and live music. The celebration lasts from 2 to 5 p.m.

Saturday, 8/10: Don a lei for the fourth annual Ed’s Fest at Ed Debevic’s (640 N. Wells St., 312-664-1707). The luau-themed event is free and runs from noon to 5 p.m. Hot dogs and hamburgers as well as Gino’s East pizza will be available for purchase. A classic car display, hula hoop contest, bouncy house, and dunk tank are some of the family friendly events on the schedule this year.

Sunday, 8/11: The owner and staff at Lush Wine and Spirits want to share their love of wine with you. Every Sunday in August, they’ll be hosting free tastings from 2 to 5 p.m. This Sunday’s event will focus on Belgium beer. Available at all locations.

Saturday, 8/10 & Sunday, 8/11: Kimchi eating contest, Korean food market, K-pop singing competition, food trucks, and ice cream. Find all this and more at the 18th Annual Chicago Korean Festival (3650 W. Bryn Mawr Ave.) being held this weekend from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
