This Summer: Fischman Liquors & Tavern Expands, Adding a Restaurant

The bar at Fischman Liquors & Tavern
Piggybacking on yesterday’s adjacent-storefront news, Fischman Liquors & Tavern (4780 N. Milwaukee Ave., 773-545-0123) revealed plans to bring a restaurant into a third space in a row—the liquor store and bar currently occupy the first two—as soon as June. If all goes according to plan, the 40-seat restaurant at 4774 North Milwaukee Avenue will connect indoors with the bar, one of the top craft-beer destinations in the city. Shanna Karamaniolas, part of the family that owns Fischman (which is not the Fischmans) describes the menu as friendly, farm-to-table bar food such as sandwiches and salads, as well as the requisite burgers and fries. “Probably more brewpub than anything, but not as frou-frou,” Karamaniolas says. Huh. We never thought of brewpubs as frou-frou. Hope it’s more frou-frou than a parking garage.

So, would the food trucks park inside the new restaurant?
