Sex and the Windy City

There are two kinds of people in this world: those giddy with anticipation in advance of Friday's premiere of Sex and the City: The Movie and those who'd rather poke out their eyeballs with a six-inch stiletto than hear fictional sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw croon "Hellllloooo, lover" on the big screen. Everyone's in luck! There are plenty of things to do this week, some of which are all about Sex and others that have nothing to do with it. (No shocker here: I fall into the fan camp and have a SATC-themed girls' night out planned for Friday; more on that next Monday).

For the devout:

Need a SATC refresher? Strap on your heels and head to The Kerryman, where the final two episodes of the TV show screen back to back this Wednesday, May 28th, beginning at 7 p.m. Drink specials include the Hello, Lover, a mix of Malibu Rum and Stoli that comes with a cupcake for $4; plus, enter a raffle for a chance to win a pair of Manolo Blahniks and sip complimentary Champagne while watching the SATC movie trailer. Call Lisa at 312-335-8121 for reservations.

Mahoney's Pub and Grille toasts the flick with themed cocktails (the Miranda Mai Tai, $8; the Samantha Wallbanger, $7; the Good Charlotte dry martini, $9; and, of course, the Carrie Cosmo, $9), plus SATC trivia and girly board games (Girl Talk, Mystery Date). Those feeling especially adventurous can jump on the mic and offer up their best Samantha Jones impersonations. Drink specials begin this Saturday, May 31st, and continue Saturdays and Sundays in June.

For everybody else:

Rather get Lost? Catch the season finale of another hit show—one with way less makeup and high heels, not to mention shampoo and toothpaste—at Stretch Run Sporting Club this Thursday, May 29th. Part one of the season ender starts at 7 p.m.; stick around for the two-hour finale at 8 p.m. and come prepared for Lost trivia during commercial breaks. In a nod to series heroes Jack Shepard and Jin Kwon, all "Jack" (i.e. Daniels) and gin cocktails are $5; other themed specials include the Tropical Island Iced Tea and the Dharma Daquiri ($6-$8), plus buckets of Corona, Corona Light, and Pacifico for $17.

New 4 a.m. bar alert: The team behind Club 720 and The Spread launches Religion Nightclub on the penthouse level of Club 720 this Friday, May 30th. Plans for the space include international DJs spinning house three nights a week; the Martinez Brothers man the pulpit-like DJ booth on opening night. The club will be open 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, with cover ranging from $10 to $20.

No its not.
I'm a guy and I think the show is one of the better shows on TV anywhere. So I'm kind of in the middle with this movie. Not only two kinds there.

best
Dave
