Weekend Photos: Crocodile
Save some dough, get some dough: Order a drink at the new Wicker Park nightspot Crocodile (1540 N. Milwaukee Ave.), and your server will offer you a free 9-inch Margherita pizza. Now that’s an economy-minded special you can sink your teeth into. We checked out the space—most recently home to Thyme Cafe and Cinnabar before that—this weekend, and found folks noshing on pies and shooting pool upstairs while DJs spun danceable beats in the basement lounge.

Another LAME post, basicly just like Chicago Magazine, this is a shill for advertising, lets see what bar we will advertise this week
Hi Hater, I actually kinda LIKE looking at pics from different bars, to see what kind of people go where, if it's worth my visiting. I even like it better than Sarah Preston's single-girl-about-town posts.
I'm with #1, which bar will pay to have an advertisement next week? I’m not against this, but Chicago Mag shouldn’t be passing these off as if they are the newest/hottest place to go in the city. If you want to get better photo’s of different places check out Chicago Scene. This is lame it hasn’t been good since before she got engaged.
This is truly awful. It's fine to include pictures from various new bars, parties... but if there is a magazine column about nightlife in a city one would expect some written content here and there, as well. Compare Nightspotting content with stuff you can read in Push, Dish or Marquee columns. Even Deal Estate makes it a more exciting read, and I am not even interested in real estate.
Sarah is a very good writer, there is no doubt about that, and she has great style. However, due to changes in her personal circumstances and, I suspect, interests, she is not the best person to write about the nightlife/singles scene in Chicago anymore. I find it difficult to believe that Chicago Magazine couldn't find someone more apt for this role.
I am sure once Sarah gets done with the Fred Astaire dancing lessons she will start writing again!
I agree, lets get someone new for the nightlife column. Its been about a year when regular readers have been calling for someone new, no disrespect for Sarah, but she’s not in touch with single nightlife anymore in Chicago. Maybe once she gets prego she can write a column for expecting mothers.
sarah quit the blog a long time ago i heard. which makes sense now.
i think people are more interested in sarah than this blog anyway. i would like to see sarah write about pending motherhood, esp coming from a girl who was single, what, like a year ago? that would be hilarious.
She quit? Awesome news! Maybe now we can get rid of that ugly mug picture?
(I’ll leave out what I originally wrote in my first post since you deleted it because it didn’t go with Chicago Mag)
Chicago mag here. Let's clear this up now: None of our editorial coverage has any ties to advertising. The bars we've covered and will continue to cover in these photo galleries are either new or are hosting noteworthy events; there is no advertising influence whatsoever. If you'd like to recommend a new bar or an event for us to check out, drop us a note. We'd love to hear from you.
Sure it has no influence, why dont you do me a favor and tell me in this current issue of the magazine, are there more pages devoted to actual stories or to advertisements, I mean how many times a year am I going to be subjected to the SUPER LAWYERS of the world 30 page ad!!!!!
