Star Quality

Oliver Peoples (941 Rush St.; 312-266-9000, oliverpeoples.com), an eyewear company that makes high-end glasses frames and sunglasses that are often spotted on celebrities (including Madonna and Kanye West), opened its first Chicago boutique in July in the Gold Coast. It is the ninth stand-alone store for the brand, which was established in West Hollywood, California in 1986. “Chicago always has been a target city for us,” says Larry Leight, the company’s founder and creative director. “It just has been a matter of timing and finding the perfect location.” The Chicago boutique has a similar inventory and interior design as other Oliver Peoples stores (“The boutique's interior embodies that of the brand itself—simplistic, sartorial and sexy,” says Leight) but features an exclusive pair of specs: the limited edition, 18-karat gold “Oliver Peoples Loves Chicago” Benedict aviator frames ($595). Other notable items include the 1970s-inspired, polarized Blondell sunglasses ($395), as well as the unisex J Gold sunglasses ($395).
