Weekend Photos: Bacardi at the Park

Posted Apr 11, 2011 at 11:51 AM

For when proximity is close enough: Bacardi at the Park, a new sports bar managed by the guys behind Gibsons and sponsored by—yes—Bacardi, just a crosswalk away from U.S. Cellular Field. Located opposite the ballpark’s Gate 5 (320 W. 35th St; 312-674-5860), the clubhouse is open to the public on home-game days, from two and a half hours before the first pitch to two hours after the last out, no game ticket required. While some may consider the location, a foul ball away from the live action, too bittersweet, others will find the towers of flat-screens just as good as the real thing—with the benefit of better-looking nachos. Our photographer snapped the spot Saturday afternoon while the Sox beat the Rays, 4–2.

About Seen on the Scene

Call it bar hopping by proxy: Each week we send our photographers into the thick of the action to capture the latest openings and the most buzzed-about events; then, on Mondays, we post the photos here, where you can view them without getting elbowed in the side or having a drink spilled down your pants. You’re welcome. And for those who do run into our photographers out and about, be sure to smile for the camera.
