Weekend Photos: The Glunz Tavern

Posted Jan 7, 2013 at 11:32 AM

After a not-so-brief hiatus (Glunz 1.0 shuttered 90 years ago as a result of Prohibition), The Glunz Tavern has finally resurfaced. We took in the scene on Saturday night, and found Old Town tipplers who were happy to help welcome back the Wells Street gem. On the drink menu: Old-timey cocktails, such as the Sazerac and Old Fashioned. On the food side: French-German-American fare developed with the help of Allen Sternweiler (Butcher & the Burger).

About Seen on the Scene

Call it bar hopping by proxy: Each week we send our photographers into the thick of the action to capture the latest openings and the most buzzed-about events; then, on Mondays, we post the photos here, where you can view them without getting elbowed in the side or having a drink spilled down your pants. You’re welcome. And for those who do run into our photographers out and about, be sure to smile for the camera.
