Weekend Photos: Rib-A-Que Smoke-Out @ Moonshine

Posted Sep 27, 2010 at 01:00 PM

The third-annual Rib-A-Que Smoke-Out was scheduled to pit pitmaster against pitmaster in the parking lot of Wicker Park’s Moonshine on Saturday, rain or shine, and though skies hovered closer to the former, we spotted plenty of smiles from finger-licking patrons. Folks chased baby backs prepped by pros (Honky Tonk BBQ, Sheffield’s) and amateurs alike with house brews while bands the Carpetbaggers and the Hoyle Brothers played on. In the end, two tong wielders came out on top: Top Shelf BBQ, a.k.a. the amateurs Paul Samojluk and Brian Milacek, nabbed the judges’ nod, while the cookoff’s cosponsor, Socca, took the popular vote. About Seen on the Scene

Call it bar hopping by proxy: Each week we send our photographers into the thick of the action to capture the latest openings and the most buzzed-about events; then, on Mondays, we post the photos here, where you can view them without getting elbowed in the side or having a drink spilled down your pants. You’re welcome. And for those who do run into our photographers out and about, be sure to smile for the camera.
