I’m Facebook friends with the very suave party promoter Vincent Anzalone of Genuine Chicago (we occasionally run into one another in real life as well), and a particular set of his status updates caught my eye last week. In a bid to get women into the River North nightclub Cuvée, he was dangling a Louis Vuitton purse as bait.

“Giving away a Louis Vuitton handbag! Already tons of girls here!” he posted via FourSquare on September 8th at 11:17 p.m.—followed by: “Guys, get here. Trust me,” at 11:26.

The trick worked so well, he’s doing it again tonight. The first 50 women to arrive at Cuvée by 11 p.m. will get a key, one of which will unlock a box containing the coveted logo—this week, a Louis Vuitton Thames PM. Per Vincent: “If you’re a girl and you want a key and a shot at a Louis Vuitton bag, get there early. If you’re a guy, get there REALLY early.”

Does the blatantly materialistic, cat-and-mouse aspect of this ploy bother anyone? Nah. It’s back-to-school season, and everyone needs a new bag, right? Go get it, ladies.
