There has never been any shortage of drinking options around Second City's headquarters in Old Town. Now, though, you can actually drink inside their building, at the new 1959 Kitchen & Bar (230 W. North Ave.).

The bar came into being as a part of the theater and training center's expansion and renovation, and as such the crowd seems to be mostly made up of audience members grabbing drinks before or after a performance as well as students and cast members taking in a cocktail or two. It's named for the year in which Second City debuted, and to go along with the origin-story theme, there's plenty of throwback decor (and a bust of notable alumnus Harold Ramis to boot).

Here's what we saw when we stopped in.
