Blue Line commuters are breathing a sigh of relief—as of today, the renovated Damen station has reopened. To celebrate such a momentous occasion, nearby Wicker Park businesses have some special deals: Stan’s Donuts and Coffee (1560 N. Damen Ave., 773-360-7386) will give you a free glazed doughnut and a free small coffee when you flash your Ventra card today or tomorrow; Flash Taco (1570 N. Damen Ave., 773-772-1997) will hand out free tamales during rush hour today through Christmas Eve; Glazed and Infused (1576 N. Milwaukee Ave., 312-226-5556) will offer a free doughnut of your choice and a free large coffee through Wednesday; and La Colombe (1552 N. Damen Ave.) has free drip coffees for Ventra cardholders through the 28th.

Jerry’s Sandwiches (1938 W. Division St., Wicker Park, 773-235-1006) is throwing Bah Humbug!, a fest of sour beers and classic flicks to get you in the holiday spirit, because nothing says Christmas like a glass of the Bruery’s Tart of Darkness over a screening of Gremlins. The party starts at 6 p.m. and the movies will get less family-friendly as the night goes on.

Wednesday, December 24

It’s your almost-last chance to sample the Twelve Cocktails of Christmas at Level Two (Hyatt, 633 N. St. Clair St., Streeterville, 312-787-1234), with a dozen drinks centered around different seasonal flavors (the nog-inspired Gin Flip has egg, orgeat syrup, and Bombay Dry; the Stinger has white crème de menthe and D’Ussé VS cognac). Order up before Christmas day.

Saturday, December 27

With Christmas behind you, it’s an endurance race to New Year’s and the end of the holiday season. Get your Champagne palate in fighting shape with a tasting party at IO Urban Roofscape (The Godfrey Hotel, 127 W. Huron St., River North, 312-649-2000), where you’ll be able to taste offerings from seven Champagne houses so you know what to stock for NYE. Buy a $25 ticket here.
