Opening

The Budlong, a Nashville-style fried chicken concept that occupied the short-lived Bunny, the Microbakery space for a similarly brief stint, has opened a new location (with an expanded menu) at 1008 West Armitage Avenue. The Lincoln Park addition makes two Budlongs—the other resides at Revival Food Hall.

Morsels

If you’re looking to get up close and personal with the food at El Che Bar (845 W. Washington Blvd., West Loop), you can attempt to secure seats at the restaurant’s new Chef’s Counter, which offers just one seating a night for its $85 five-course tasting. You can call the restaurant at 312-265-1130 to nab a reservation.

Respected Chicago food writer Michael Gebert, editor of the ever-insightful online magazine Fooditor, has released a restaurant guidebook: The Fooditor 99. The picks range from high-end to everyday—you can grab a copy on Amazon for $5.99 (or just under $2 if you’d prefer a Kindle edition).

A new location of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is coming to Lincoln Park (inside the new Foxtrot shop at 900 W. Armitage Ave.) on Saturday, but on Friday night, they’re throwing a fête to celebrate. Starting at 7 p.m., the first 50 people will get a taste of the shop’s new waffles plus a swag bag, and there will also be free ice cream and chances to chat with founder Jeni Britton Bauer all night.
