Open now: The Betty (839 W. Fulton St., West Loop) officially opens her doors tonight. Here’s the skinny on the long-awaited cocktail spot.
Opening Soon: The second location of Burger Bar (1150 S. Michigan Ave., 312-988-0162) will flip the signature burgers that pack ’em in at its Lincoln Park location, and also offer beer via 30 draft lines and 40 to 50 canned and bottled options.
Rick Bayless and company have somewhat quietly transformed the five-month-old Xoco (1471 N. Milwaukee Ave., Wicker Park) into Xoco Bistro to better suit the neighborhood’s tastes, according to Bayless. This means an expanded menu that still includes tortas (phew!) but now also offers nearly a dozen “classic plates,” such as Mazatlán blue shrimp with slow-cooked garlic and plantain rice. This also means more booze.
This summer, the small but mighty meatery/sandwich shop the Butcher & Larder (1026 N. Milwaukee Ave., Noble Square, 773-687-8280) will find a new home inside Local Foods, a 27,000-square-foot wholesale distributor and retailer currently under construction in Bucktown. Expect more space for sandwich-eating, plus an expanded roster of butchering classes.
In other relocation news, Blue Door Farmstand (843 W. Armitage Ave., Lincoln Park, 773-935-2583), the busy café that celebrates its first anniversary in a few weeks, will soon make a move to 2010 North Halsted Street. The new digs will be nearly double the size of the current space, hopefully alleviating the long weekend lines, according to staff.
Michelin-starred Senza (2873 N. Broadway, Lake View) served its final gluten-free meal last weekend. The restaurant’s former chef, Noah Sandoval, rejoins his Trio colleague Grant Achatz to help develop the forthcoming West Loop spot Roister. Read more about that here.Edit Module
