Every drinker knows the deal: Liquor before beer, in the clear; beer before liquor, never sicker—but what about liquor made of beer? Find out what happens when you mix the two at the launch party for CH Distillery’s newest creation, Spirit of du Sable, a barrel-aged and distilled version of Ale Syndicate’s du Sable beer. The celebration, which will feature a special cocktail mixing the spirit with honey syrup and a variety of bitters for $11, starts at 5 p.m.

The latest installment in the Omakase Dinner Series at Ramen-San (59 W. Hubbard St., River North, 312-377-9950) puts the spotlight on roast duck and Japanese whiskey, with plentiful options for high-end alcohol pairings. The base price for the five-course meal, with multiple seatings beginning at 6 p.m., is $45, but you can add whiskies for an additional fee—$40 or $80 depending on how long they’ve been aged. Call the restaurant to make a reservation–and note that there are more tables open after 8 p.m.
