Wednesday, June 10

Summer is rosé season, and it pairs pretty well with sushi—test the combo out at Japonais by Morimoto (600 W. Chicago Ave., River North, 312-822-9600), where every Wednesday night you’ll be able to score two glasses of the sipper and two rolls (options include spicy tuna, yellowtail with scallions, and salmon and avocado) for $38—and you also can get the deal on the spot’s riverwalk patio.

If you prefer your booze a little smokier, Nacional 27 (325 W. Huron St., River North, 312-664-2727) beverage manager Elyse Fuller will be showing how best to incorporate mezcal into cocktails (such as a mezcal mule with grapefruit juice and ginger beer.) To sign up for the $25 class, which starts at 6:30 p.m., go to the restaurant’s website.

Friday, June 12

Stuff yourself in honor of 117 years of the Philippines’ independence at Sunda (110 W. Illinois St., River North, 312-644-0500), where chef Jess DeGuzman will be offering up a Filipino “kamayan” platter for two for $75. The spread includes pork belly adobo, lumpia (egg rolls), and diniguan (that’s a pork blood stew), as well as halo-halo (read: ice cream, fruit, and a whole bunch of other stuff) for dessert.

Sunday, June 14

Stock up on artisanal jams and popcorns at the latest installment of the Dose Market at Venue One (1034 W. Randolph St., West Loop). Stop in from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to shop for, in addition to jewelry and home goods, small batch eats and drinks from Rare Bird Preserves, Jeanette’s Cookies, and more. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.

It’s launch weekend for the Wicker Park Farmers Market (1425 N. Damen Ave.), now under the supervision of the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce. Updates for this year include a TBA lineup of cooking demos from neighborhood chefs and live music. The market, which has more than 20 vendors, kicks off at 8 a.m.
