Monday, May 23

Dinner plans for tonight: a beer and taco meal at Tallboy Taco (325 W. Huron St., River North, 312-488-4917), where four courses (including some chips and dips along with the aforementioned tacos) will be matched to beers from Two Brothers Brewing Company. The $25 meal is available starting at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, May 24

Sample some of downstate Illinois’ best brews at South of 80, the fifth annual beer celebration at the Green Lady (3328 N. Lincoln Ave., Roscoe Village, 773-525-5571). Eight breweries will be represented, including Rolling Meadows Brewing of Cantrall and Triptych of Savoy. The taps start flowing at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, May 25

Celebrate Remington’s (20 N. Michigan Ave., Loop, 312-782-6000) first birthday by washing down $1 oysters with $1 glasses of Sauvignon Blanc all day long.

If you want to learn a badass trick to show off at your forthcoming summer soirées, stop by the Bristol (2152 N. Damen Ave., Bucktown, 773-862-5555) for a lesson on how to saber a bottle of Champagne. For $40, you’ll have a Champagne 101 session with wine director Charles Ford and then get some practice slicing. Buy your ticket here.

Saturday, May 28

Planning to pop by the Welles Park Craft Beer Fest? Pencil in some time afterward to visit Band of Bohemia (4710 N. Ravenswood Ave., Ravenswood, 773-271-4710), where your fest wristband can get you a free 12-ounce beer with the purchase of a small plate.
