A food fest, a beer fest, Oktoberfest, and more

Monday, September 19

Start your Oktoberfest right with a celebratory menu at the Gage (24 S. Michigan Ave., The Loop, 312-372-4243). Every night from now through October 2, you’ll be able to feast on veal schnitzel and German chocolate cake, plus $12 German wines by the glass and select German beers on special.

Friday, September 23

Some parts of this weekend’s Chicago Gourmet festival in Millennium Park are sold out, but tickets for others are still available, including the beloved burger fest known as Hamburger Hop. Check out what’s open still here.

Sunday, September 25

The next edition of shopping fest Dose Market, Dose Arts, will have plenty of food vendors doling out samples, including cocktails from Bittercube Bitters and granola from Victory Dance Foods. The shopping takes place at Morgan Manufacturing (401 N. Morgan St., West Loop) and tickets are just $10 if you buy online.

If you prefer a beer fest to a shopping one, Goose Island (1800 N. Clybourn Ave., Lincoln Park, 312-915-0071) can hook you up during its annual Belgian Fest. Tons of local brewers, including Sketchbook and Band of Bohemia, will be on hand to pour their best Belgian-style ales. Pick up $40 tickets here.

Yes, we generally tend to roll our eyes around these parts at National [Insert Food Item Of Your Choice Here] Day celebrations, but this one is actually a good deal: In honor of National Lobster Day, Smack Shack (326 N. Morgan St., West Loop, 312-973-1336) will have a $60 seafood feast, which includes an appetizer, two pounds of lobster, dessert, and two glasses of wine. Call the restaurant to reserve your spot.
