Top Sale This Week

Outside Luxury Garage Sale

Combine your shopping skills and charitable personality this Thursday at Luxury Garage Sale (1658 N. Wells, 312-291-9126, luxurygaragesale.com). Tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., shop designer clothing, shoes, and more with signature punch from the Barrelhouse Flat and appetizers from Ruth’s Chris. The best part? Ten percent of the proceeds from the night go to the Ronald McDonald House near Lurie Children’s.

The Best of the Rest

  • John Fisk, the director of styling at Ralph Lauren, will be in Chicago for two days giving one-on-one style sessions at Bloomingdale’s (900 N. Michigan, 312-440-4460, bloomingdales.com). A $50 reservation fee is required and the event is by appointment only, but no worries—the $50 will be transferred to a Bloomingdale’s gift card for use on the day of the event. To book an appointment on either Friday, September 12 or Saturday, September 13, e-mail RL-Stylist@RalphLauren.com.
  • Pulp & Ink (1344 N. Wells, 312-475-1344, pulpandink.com) turns 13 this month! Shop owners want everyone to feel lucky, so they are offering 13% off all purchases for 13 days beginning on September 13. Appointments are suggested, and would certainly be worth it if personalized thank you cards or Vera Wang wedding invitations are in your future.
  • After an exhilarating Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, a number of designers will hold trunk shows throughout the month of September at Chicago’s Neiman Marcus (737 N. Michigan, 312-642-5900, neimanmarcus.com). Among the events are Viktoria Hayman’s personal appearance and a trunk show with the Max Azria-designed Herve Leger fall line.

Openings and Closings

Enjoy some cupcakes and say hello to the newest M2 Boutique (2203 W. Roscoe St., 773-248-9866, mboutiquechicago.com) in Roscoe Village. Tomorrow from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., check out the newest lineup of fall goodies. Each customer will receive a lottery ticket revealing their own unique sale, and there will be a few giveaways, too.

The Market Supply Co. (1147 W. 18th St., 773-609-2887, marketsupply.com) reopens tomorrow to bring repurposed, recrafted, and restored vintage goods to Pilsen. Both men’s and women’s clothing and accessories are available, as well as classic barber services.

After five years, Sofia (110 E. Walton, 312-640-0878, sofialivelovely.com) closes its doors on Monday, September 15. The shop is still receiving new shipments every day, but in-store items are 40 to 90 percent off. Everything online is marked down, too. Act fast before inventory is, sigh, gone for good.
