Richard A. Mannion, MD, FACS

Dr. Richard A. Mannion is President of Northwest Orthopedic Surgery in Arlington Heights and has provided exceptional, comprehensive orthopedic care to his patients for 32 years. He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Orthopedic Surgery at Loyola University, where he has served for the past 28 years. In addition, he is on staff at three major hospitals in the Northwest suburbs. He is highly regarded in his field for his skill in orthopedic surgery, specializing in lumbar spine surgery, both anterior hip replacements and traditional posterior hip replacements, knee replacements, and shoulder surgery, including rotator cuff repair and shoulder replacement. His practice focuses on minimally invasive surgical techniques, which facilitates rapid recovery and return to normal activities.

Dr. Mannion’s patients benefit from the latest technology available, including patient-specific joint replacements based on MRI or CT guided custom implants. He employs a team approach, which combines his orthopedic spinal expertise with that of a board certified neurosurgeon, Dr. Mina Foroohar, MD to provide the most holistic care to achieve the finest patient outcomes. His philosophy is to exhaust all conservative measures prior to considering surgical intervention. Dr. Mannion employs the latest technological advances including intra-operative three-dimensional Stealth Navigation for all adult spinal surgeries.

Dr. Mannion believes that providing extensive education for both surgical and non-surgical patients is essential to achieving an excellent outcome. Dr. Mannion is certified with the National Board of Examiners and the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and is a fellow with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the North American Spine Society.
