On Monday, December 10, SPLASH and Chicago magazine hosted Fit Society, presented by Mario Tricoci, for 50 attendees at Brooklyn Boulders. Members have signed up for Fit Society over the course of the year in order to be the first to know when tickets were available — but the location remained a secret. One day before the class, ticket purchasers then received an email with location. The final event of the year took place at Brooklyn Boulders, a rock-climbing mecca in West Loop. Attendees were taken through an introduction to climbing class, followed by a healthy happy hour featuring Protein Bar wraps, flavored sparkling water from Polar Beverage and Boxed Water. Michelob Ultra provided beer samples, winter beanies, cozies and various giveaways to attendees. Mario Tricoci treated guests to mini manicures, hand scrubs, table and chair massages, and giveaways.

Studio Profile

Brooklyn Boulders (BKB) designs, builds, and operates hybrid rock climbing facilities anchored by the premise that movement stimulates innovation and creativity. The 25,000-square-foot facility opened December 2014 in Chicago’s West Loop and offers progressive climbing and fitness experiences while providing an unconventional platform to bring the arts, music, and entrepreneurial communities together. Brooklyn Boulders Chicago completed its four-month renovation transforming the Chicago facility by updating and expanding the training area, adding a weight room, debuting new climbing classes, new fitness classes, and building two new state-of-the-art climbing training walls.

The new facility features more group exercise classes that will continue to test the endurance of members and guests, including HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), Climber Core, Bootcamp for Climbers, Yoga Basics, Intermediate Yoga, and Yoga for Climbers. Brooklyn Boulders also debuted new climbing classes, including Intro to Climbing, a 60-minute class that gives anyone regardless of experience level a non- intimidating environment to learn basics on both boulders and ropes. With a 1:6 instructor to student ratio, participants are guaranteed to receive hands on coaching through their session.

I’ve been a runner my whole life and through that journey, I’ve gotten more involved in making a healthier, stronger body. Before BKB I was leading a free fitness workout group in Chicago called November Project. After doing that for almost four years, I pursued a career in fitness, which landed me with BKB!

Alex is a competing female raw powerlifter who is NSCA-CPT certified and specializes in strength training and plyometrics. She has lived in three different countries and is always stoked to try something new. When she’s not picking up heavy things in the gym, she loves all things food and taking her German Shepherd pup on adventures.
