Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States and affects people of all colors and races. Basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma are the most common types of skin cancers.
Mohs Micrographic Surgery is a special skin cancer procedure used to treat most forms of skin cancer and has a unique benefit. Mohs surgery allows our surgeons to check the borders of the cancer as soon as it is removed, allowing them to see where the cancer stops. This allows Mohs to have the highest cure rate of all skin cancer treatments and allows you to keep as much healthy skin as possible.
Excision The cancerous tissue and a surrounding margin of healthy skin is removed. A wide excision, removing extra normal skin around the tumor, may be recommended in some cases.
