4/1–2 Giordano Dance Chicago premieres Sneaky Pete, a film-noir-inspired narrative by local choreographer Brock Clawson. Also running: Israeli choreographer Roni Koresh’s audience favorite Exit4 and a rare performance of Gus Giordano’s 1983 classic Sing, Sing, Sing. $15–$75.
4/5–6 Mark Morris Dance Group revives its founder’s acclaimed 1989 dance opera Dido and Aeneas. Henry Purcell’s original baroque score sits akimbo with Morris’s kooky, modern choreography, making for a quintessential show by the renowned Brooklyn company. $55–$250.
4/29–30 Miami City Ballet returns to Chicago for a two-night stand. The first production sets Balanchine’s Symphony in 3 Movements alongside contemporary dances, while the second pairs ballet star Justin Peck’s Heatscape with two Balanchine dances. $35–$125. 205 E. Randolph.

4/28–30 MacArthur “genius” grant awardee Kyle Abraham returns to Chicago with When the Wolves Came In, an evening-length work anchored by the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 20th anniversary of apartheid’s abolishment.
