In preparation for his major—and majorly ambitious—solo exhibition at the Hyde Park Art Center, opening this Sunday, Jeremiah Hulsebos-Spofford spent seven months at the art center casting, constructing, and sculpting pieces from wood, polystyrene, resin, an armchair, and whatever else he could get his hands on. The result: A 10,000-square-foot indoor sculpture garden of surreal equestrian monuments, called Hall of Khan.

Hulsebos-Spofford says he fashioned the pieces after figures in pop culture, historical icons, and local artists. He’s also created a pink polystyrene replica of the 1851 London building, the Crystal Palace (pictured above).

Oh—there’s also a live horse that will make several appearances in the gallery during the run of the exhibition. Yep, a live horse. Giddyup.
