Monday, 5/6: Fix for lunch with the lunch menu at American Junkie (15 W. Illinois St., 312-239-0995), where chef Kendal Duque has assembled a variety of lighter dishes, such as a citrus seafood salad ($16) or pork belly sliders ($10). If the weather cooperates the second-level retractable roof and windows will be open on warmer days.

Tuesday, 5/7: Take on the spring menu at Takito Kitchen (2013 W. Division St., 773-687-9620) during Takito Tuesdays, when two tacos and a margarita will run you $12. The new chicken pipián taco includes avocado salsa verde, snap peas, ricotta, pepitas, and cilantro.

Wednesday, 5/8: Bring someone special to Bombay Spice Grill (450 N. Clark St., 312-477-7657) for their Wednesday date night deal. From 5 to 10 p.m., $45 buys a customized three-course dinner for two and two glasses of wine. For those watching their waistlines: Most dishes here are 500 calories or less.

Thursday, 5/9: Eat and drink for charity at Sip & Savor, this year’s Special Olympics Chicago spring fundraiser. Jason Vincent of Nightwood, Ryan Poli of Tavernita and Little Market Brasserie, Michael and Patrick Sheerin of Trenchermen, and Chris Pandel of Balena will prepare food, drink, and dessert pairings. Advance tickets are $55, and 70 percent of the night’s profits will go directly to Special Olympics Chicago.

Friday, 5/10: Go a little bit country and a little bit charitable to support the victims of the recent West, Texas, fertilizer plant explosion during the Stoney Larue concert at Joe’s Bar (940 W. Weed St., 312-337-3486). Proceeds from $2 kolachkes (a Czech pastry the town is famous for) will go to a first responders’ fund, as will $1 from the sale of each Shiner Premium beer ($4)—another Texas trademark. Tickets are $10.

Saturday, 5/11: Join approximately 9,999 other beerheads at the American Beer Classic (Soldier Field, 1410 S. Museum Campus Dr.), where a $60 ticket ($70 at the door) allows visitors to sample from breweries of all sizes and locations. Midwestern brews will take the spotlight.

Sunday, 5/12: Go a little wild this Mother’s Day with brunch at the Brookfield Zoo (3300 Golf Rd, Brookfield, 708-688-8355). The $49 nonmember tickets ($35 for kids) grant access to the zoo as well as to an all-you-can-eat buffet, so Mom can fill up on endless Champagne and breakfast staples before a stroll through the Great Bear Wilderness or the Pachyderm House.
