The Guerrilla Truck Show is all about making new friends and keeping the old. This year I was delighted to see Scott McGlasson of Twin Cities-based WoodSport make an appearance (I first met him a few years back at the One of a Kind Show at the Merchandise Mart). McGlasson’s collection is so tight and I love how he combines rich wood grains with colors (white, black, and red in particular) and textures (lots of metals and even fur on his stools). Speaking of colors—it was nice to see them this year. Japanese designer Kumiko Murakami had some uber-bright wall decals and clocks that would be great for a kid’s room or livening up a dark corner. Karl Merkl of Merkled Design showed some splashes of color in his bent aluminum stools. And, at the nearby Object Society Show—always a treat—Doug Thome of Thomeworks (part of the Dock 6 Collective) had fun with interchangeable colored panels on the surface of the coffee table shown here.
