This weekend, the Woman’s Board of Winnetka Community House will once again show us how a design show is done. The Antiques + Modernism Winnetka exhibition and sale, which goes Friday through Sunday, is a chance to check out furniture, garden antiques, lighting, fine and folk art, architectural artifacts, and more. And unlike some shows that feature just one style or period, this one runs the gamut. There are Asian and European antiques mixed with Mid-Century, Art Nouveau, and Arts and Crafts items. A few knockouts are a George III walnut and parcel gilt mirror from the 1770s, a Coalbrookdale bench from England in the 1890s, and a Danish Modern sideboard, shown here. And the show will include a bunch of fun events, such as a brunch with J. Michael Flanigan from Antiques Roadshow and a Mad Men-themed cocktail party where you’ll be surrounded by Mid-Century furniture and get served food and drinks popular in the ’60s. Purchase tickets to the show ($15 if you get them in advance, otherwise they are $20) or any of the events at www.thewinnetkashow.com/tickets. It all goes down at the Winnetka Community House (620 Lincoln Ave.).
