The red arrows represent the ways your children could topple from this lovely home's open ledges.

Dennis Rodkin linked to this great Projectophile gallery in his story earlier today about whether a Mid-Century Modern house is a good investment.

Dollars and cents aside, there is another factor to consider. Won't your kids just fall to their demise from all those artfully open ledges and rail-free stairs? What parent could feel comfortable with a toddler taking an open bridge across a pond, just to reach the front door?

With so many fantastic Mid-Century Modern homes in the Chicago area, these concerns walk a fine line between practical and paranoid.

But here's the point, as illustrated by the blood red arrows scribbled over Projectophile's images: When it comes to your dream house, you just can't be too careful.
